Mechanicville softball advances to Class B semifinals

MECHANICVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Mechanicville softball is moving on in the Class B sectional tournament after beating Greenville 5-4 Thursday afternoon.
The Red Raiders scored five runs in the first three innings. Brianna Blake racked up the first RBI of the game, and finished 1-3 at the plate. Addison Pane, Kendall Beuchner and Emma LaPierre all drove in a run as well.
Pane hit a solo home run in the bottom of the third that gave Mechanicville a 5-0 lead. In addition to the strong offensive showing, Red Raiders freshman pitcher Paige Rogers tallied her 100th strikeout of the season, finishing the game with six total punchouts.
Mechanicville will play No. 2 Schuylerville in the semifinals on Thursday, May 21 at 5:00 p.m.
