Prep roundup: Acalanes wins 16th straight, San Ramon Valley dominates, College Park softball hands Benicia first loss of season

No. 2 Acalanes 9, Northgate 1
Acalanes extended its unbeaten start to 16 games after blowing out Northgate at home.
The Dons scored four runs in the first and three runs in the third inning as the Lafayette school had eight hits and five walks.
Acalanes third baseman Gavin Bender went 2 for 2 with two RBIs.
Branson Smith, Jake Colaco, Isaac Copen and Austin McManamon combined to strike out seven and allow four hits and a run.
Connor Weitl scored the Broncos’ lone run on a wild pitch in the second inning.
After Granada’s loss to Amador Valley on Wednesday, Acalanes is now the only team without a loss in the Bay Area News Group rankings. Northgate dropped to 3-12.
No. 8 San Ramon Valley 6, California 1
The Wolves jumped ahead of Granada in the East Bay Athletic League standings by snagging a road win over California.
The Grizzlies took a 1-0 lead after the first inning, but it was all SRV after that. The Wolves scored six runs from the second inning to the sixth in a solid offensive outing.
Colin Linteo was 2 for 4 at the plate and totaled two RBIs. Lucas Glazier and Brady Shay each hit a home run.
Nathan Herberger knocked in Ryan Giffins to score the Grizzlies’ only run of the game.
SRV moved to 11-5, 6-1. California is now 7-9, 1-6.
No. 18 Leigh 6, Santa Teresa 3
The Longhorns scored all six of their runs before the fourth inning as Leigh (10-5, 7-2) remained in first place in the Blossom Valley Athletic League Mt. Hamilton Division.
Ollie Obenour went 2 for 3 with two RBIs and a double. Jacob Madonna had two hits and two RBIs.
Senior Jacob Gilbreath recorded a double for Santa Teresa, which dropped to 10-5, 6-3.
No. 20 College Park 4, Campolindo 0
College Park pitcher Diego Emerling threw a one-hitter and struck out 10 batters through six innings to lead the Falcons past Campolindo at home.
College Park senior TJ Lanza batted 2 for 2 and knocked in two runners. Nathan Leffel had a hit, two RBIs and a double.
The Falcons improved to 9-5, 2-0. Campolindo dropped to 7-6, 0-2.
Alhambra 1, No. 16 Berean Christian 0
Jaden Lack’s RBI single that scored Daniel Polasek in the first inning of Thursday’s game was the only run the Bulldogs needed to beat Berean Christian in the second of a two-game series this week.
Junior Cameron Millar struck out six and allowed four hits in a complete game shutout.
Alhambra improved to 10-8, 4-1. Berean Christian dropped to 12-3, 3-2.
Softball
No. 19 College Park 10, No. 9 Benicia 7
College Park put up an eight-spot in the first inning and held off Benicia in the later innings to pick up a key league win and hand Benicia its first loss of the season.
College Park senior Ava Davis went 2 for 4 at the plate and totaled three RBIs. Jessica Delatorre was 2 for 3 with two RBIs.
Benicia scored five runs in the fifth inning to make the score 9-7. But the Falcons scored a run in the sixth to take a three-run lead and didn’t allow a Benicia run for two innings to come away with the win.
Sinead Maas and Emma French each homered for Benicia (8-1, 0-1).
College Park improved to 6-3, 1-0.
No. 4 Livermore 5, Dougherty Valley 0
The Cowboys scored five runs in the second inning to beat Dougherty Valley on the road.
Livermore sophomore Laine Macosky had a double and an RBI.
The pitching tandem of Kaci Norton and Savanna Froke combined to strike out six and allowed just five hits.
Dougherty Valley pitcher Katie Osborn came in relief in the second and didn’t allow a run through 5 2/3 innings.
Livermore moved to 13-3,5-1. Dougherty Valley is now 3-10, 0-6.
No. 6 Foothill 12, Carondelet 2
Foothill scored a run in each inning as the Falcons’ offense proved too much for Carondelet.
Kaycie Burdick was a perfect 3 for 3 at the plate, totaled three RBIs, walked twice and homered in one of the junior’s best performances of the season for Foothill, which is now 10-3, 4-2.
Anna Gustafson had two hits in three attempts for Carondelet (5-7, 2-5).
No. 12 Liberty 13, Antioch 0 (five innings)
The Lions scored 13 runs on 14 hits as they defeated Antioch by mercy rule.
Kaitlyn Macias had two hits and two RBIs. Kate Skinner and Jewel Cooper each had a home run.
Skinner was solid in the pitcher’s circle too, throwing a one-hitter and striking out 13 in a complete game shutout.
Liberty improved to 10-2, 4-0. Antioch is now 1-12, 0-3.
No. 18 James Logan 10, American 0 (five innings)
Anastasia Marquez and Belle Torres combined to throw a no-hitter for James Logan’s win on Thursday.
Marquez pitched four innings and Torres came in relief in the fifth. The duo struck out eight batters.
Shannon Garcia went 2 for 2 at the plate and hit a home run. Ava Medellin was a perfect 3 for 3, knocked in a run and had two triples.
James Logan improved to 13-1, 6-0. American dropped to 1-12, 0-6.
