Thomara Drummer’s fourth hit of the game proved to be the winner, scoring Cassidy Kaplan to lift San Rafael to a wild 5-4 win in 10 innings against San Marin on Wednesday.

The Mustangs (4-4, 3-1) tied the game at 2-2 on a bunt single by Arianna Mendoza then took a 3-2 lead in the top of the eighth on a single by Savannah Reynolds.

The Bulldogs (5-2, 2-2) stayed alive when Gabby Rodriguez hit a two-out single to tie the game at 3-3.

Taylor Testa restored San Marin’s lead at 4-3 with a double in the top of the 10th. San Rafael won the game in three consecutive singles by Sophia Everett (two hits), Kaplan (three hits), and Drummer.

Drummer went all 10 innings in the circle, allowing six hits, no earned runs and striking out 18. Testa started in the circle and had two hits to lead the Mustangs.

Around the county

  • Eleanor Johnson had a strong game, striking out nine in the circle and driving in two runs as Terra Linda won its third consecutive game, 3-2 against Tam on Wednesday. The Trojans (3-2, 2-2) scored twice in the fourth inning then pushed across the winning run when Sofia Gonzalez drove in Naomi Lewis in the bottom of the eighth.
    Starting pitcher Ava Lee had two hits to lead Tam (2-7, 0-4) and struck out 10 hitters.
    TL was coming off its first two victories in more than two years, having beaten Healdsburg and Novato last week. Johnson went the distance in both games, going seven innings with 15 strikeouts against two hits in a shutout against the Greyhounds, then going five with eight strikeouts against the Hornets.
    Lacey Graham had two hits and an RBI against Healdsburg. Naomi Lewis had two doubles and two RBIs against Novato while Johnson went 2 for 2 with a double.
  • Archie Williams scored four runs in the first inning and six more in the third to beat Novato 14-3 in five innings Wednesday. Lydia Battaglia had two hits, two RBIs, and scored twice for the Peregrine Falcons (4-3, 3-1). Chase Unger and Abby Berner had two RBIs apiece.
