Hosts Brazil name preliminary roster for WBSC U-18 Women's Softball World Cup Group A

<p>The Brazilian Baseball and Softball Confederation (CBBS) unveiled a 23-player list to represent the nation at the <strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><a rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="WBSC U-18 Women's Softball World Cup Group A (opens in a new tab)" href="https://www.wbsc.org/en/events/2024-ii-u-18-womens-softball-world-cup-group-stage-sao-paulo/home" target="_blank">WBSC U-18 Women's Softball World Cup Group A</a></span></strong>, scheduled to be played between 23 to 27 July in Sao Paulo. The athletes will gather together from 10 to 13 February at Clube Nikkei Curitiba, in Curitiba, for their first training camp.</p>

<p>The Estadio Municipal de Beisebol Mie Nishi, located in the Bom Retiro neighbourhood in central Sao Paulo, will receive six teams for the Group Stage of the World Cup, with the top two nations in the final standings advancing to the World Championship Finals in 2025 in Dallas, USA. </p>

<p>Brazil will host a WBSC Softball World Cup for the first time, becoming the 16th nation to organize a Women’s Softball World Cup (<a href="https://www.wbsc.org/en/organisation/wbsc-events/world-champions"><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">across all categories</span></strong></a>). The other two groups will be played in <strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><a rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="Pingtan (opens in a new tab)" href="https://www.wbsc.org/en/events/2024-ii-u-18-womens-softball-world-cup-group-stage-pingtan/home" target="_blank">Pingtan</a></span></strong> and <strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><a rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="Dallas (opens in a new tab)" href="https://www.wbsc.org/en/events/2024-ii-u-18-womens-softball-world-cup-group-stage-dallas/home" target="_blank">Dallas</a></span></strong>.</p>

<p>By hosting a group of the WBSC U-18 Women’s Softball World Cup Group Stage, world No. 16 Brazil is one of the 10 qualified teams for the tournament, along with No. 1 USA, No. 2 Japan, No. 4 Chinese Taipei, No. 6 Italy, No. 9 Czechia, No. 10 Australia, No. 15 China, No. 21 Ireland and No. 32 New Zealand.&nbsp;The dates of the Americas and Africa Qualifiers are still to be determined.</p>

<p>Brazil's latest appearance in the youth women's softball world cup was in 2019 in Irvine, California, USA, when they finished 12th. This will be their seventh participation in the U-18 Women's Softball World Cup (counting the previous Junior Women's World Championships).</p>
