Netherlands to host Women's Softball European Championship 2024 in September

<p>WBSC Europe has announced that Utrecht, the Netherlands, will host the next edition of the <strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><a rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="Women's Softball European Championship (opens in a new tab)" href="https://www.wbsceurope.org/en/events/2024-womens-softball-european-championship/home" target="_blank">Women's Softball European Championship</a></span></strong>. The biggest softball event in Europe will be played from 1 to 7 September, 2024. </p>

<p>This will be the second high-profile women's softball event next summer on the continent, with the <strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><a rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="WBSC Women's Softball World Cup Finals (opens in a new tab)" href="https://www.wbsc.org/en/events/2024-womens-softball-world-cup-finals/home" target="_blank">WBSC Women's Softball World Cup Finals</a></span></strong> being staged in Italy from 15 to 20 July.</p>

<p>The Women's Softball European Championship will be staged at the UVV softball complex, along with the Domstad Dodgers Ballpark, the Nieuwegein Diamonds and the Centrals/Wombats in De Bilt fields. Around 20 teams are expected to participate in the Women's Softball European Championship 2024.</p>

<p>Utrecht hosted the <a href="https://www.wbsc.org/en/events/2019-europe-africa-baseball-olympic-qualifier/home"><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">WBSC Softball Olympic Qualifier</span></strong></a> in 2019, where Italy clinched their ticket to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. </p>

<p>The Dutch squad will defend their title on home soil. Netherlands defeated Great Britain, 7-0, in the final game of the <a href="https://www.wbsc.org/en/news/netherlands-clinch-womens-softball-european-championship-advance-to-world-cup-2024-with-great-britain-italy"><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">European Championship 2022</span></strong></a> played in Barcelona, Spain. </p>
