All-Marmonte League baseball, softball awards highlighted by Derek Turner and Justin Lambert

The Marmonte League announced its all-league selections for baseball and softball for the 2023 season.

In baseball, Newbury Park swept the big awards. Seniors Derek Turner and Cole Miller won the league’s MVP and Pitcher of the Year awards, respectively.

Turner, a USC commit, did it all for the Panthers. He batted .346 with 28 hits and struck out just four times. From the mound, he was 5-1 in 11 appearances with one no-hitter, four complete games and an ERA of 0.88 with 66 strikeouts in 39 2/3 innings. Miller, a UCLA commit, had an ERA of 1.40 in 11 games with 62 strikeouts in 47 2/3 innings.

SOFTBALL

Oaks Christian’s Justin Lambert was named the MVP of the Marmonte League after hitting .508 with 60 hits, 27 RBIs, 14 doubles and four homers. Oaks Christian’s Anahi Arreola and Westlake’s Kaylee Clarkson were named co-Offensive Player of the Year. Arreola hit .514 with 56 hits, 60 RBIs and 20 homers. Clarkson batted .431 wit 31 hits, 38 RBIs and 13 home runs.
