[Softball] Summers Tosses Perfect Game for SXU Softball in DH Sweep of TIU
CHICAGO – Junior pitcher Laila Summers (Joliet, Ill./Providence Catholic) became the seventh pitcher in program history to throw a Perfect Game in since 1998 and it was the 13th Perfect Game in team history as the Saint Xavier University softball team (21-11/8-2 CCAC) in game one as they swept a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) doubleheader vs. Trinity International University (Ill.) Tuesday afternoon at the SXU Softball Field in Chicago, Ill. with SXU playing as the visiting team as the games were originally set to be played at TIU's home field, but the field was unplayable. Saint Xavier took game one 17-0 in five innings and game two by an 8-0 decision in six innings. It's Summers' first full Perfect Game, as she and former NAIA All-American Allison Golic (2018-21) threw the only combined Perfect Game in team history on March 4, 2021 vs. Lawrence Tech University. Golic threw the most recent Perfect Game at Roosevelt University (Ill.) on March 27, 2021.
