Czech Republic roster unveiled for WBSC U-12 Mixed Softball World Cup

<p>Czech Softball announced their 16-player roster for the <a href="https://www.wbsc.org/en/events/2021-u12-softball-world-cup/home"><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">II WBSC U-12 Mixed Softball World Cup</span></strong></a>, to be played from 7-11 December in Taichung, Taiwan. The roster includes eight girls and eight boys. The final selection was made after a training camp held on 22-23 October in Prague.</p>

<p>Five teams will participate in the II U-12 Mixed Softball World Cup: Czech Republic, Hong Kong, India, Singapore and host and defending world champions Chinese Taipei. The teams will open with a three-day single round robin, with all the teams advancing to the playoffs.</p>

<p>The fourth and fifth qualified teams will play a quarter final elimination game, with the winner facing the best seeded squad in the Opening Round, in one of two semifinals. Second and third quelified teams will play the second semifinal.</p>

<p>The WBSC U-12 Mixed Softball World Cup, the WBSC’s first-ever mixed-gender world cup, boasts a tournament format that is designed to further boost gender equality across all WBSC disciplines. All squads must include 14-16 players aged 10 to 12, and each team must include at least four females and four males on the field of play at any one time, with a batting line-up alternating between five female and five male players.</p>

<p>The Czech Republic finished third place in the <a href="https://www.wbsc.org/en/events/2019-u12-softball-world-cup/home"><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">inaugural edition of the tournament in 2019</span></strong></a>, winning the nation’s first ever medal in a Softball World Cup.</p>
