Japan, Philippines qualify for WBSC Men’s Softball World Cup, complete field of teams for Auckland
World No. 2 Japan and No. 21 Philippines advanced to the WBSC Men’s Softball World Cup 2022 out from the Asian Qualifier and completed the field of teams for the top international men’s softball competition in the world. The world cup will be played from 26 November to 4 December in Auckland, New Zealand.
Both teams faced off in the final of the 11th Men’s Softball Asian Cup in Kochi, Japan, where Japan defeated Philippines, 9-2 to win the continental title.
After the Super Round, there were a three-way tie between Philippines, Singapore and India for the second place, with the Philippine team winning the tie break with the lowest number of runs against.
The WBSC Men’s Softball World Cup will have 11 of the top-12 teams in the world competing for the title of world Champion: No. 1 and defending world champion Argentina, No. 2 Japan, No. 3 Canada, No. 4 Australia, No. 5 Czech Republic, No. 6 New Zealand, No. 7 USA, No. 9 Venezuela, No. 10 Denmark, No. 11 South Africa and No. 12 Cuba and No. 21 Philippines.
