[Softball] Hawks Drop Two to HIU in Final Road Series of the Season

0 4

FULLERTON. Calif. – Competing in their final road series of the season, the San Diego Christian College Hawks lost both ends of Friday's doubleheader to the Hope International University Royals by scores of 2-4 and 1-4.

GAME ONE
SDCC's Amaryssa Medina scattered nine hits allowing four runs to the Royals over the seven-inning contest. As dialed in as she was, the HIU pitcher, Puente, was as well. The Hawks never got their bearings set against her.

Even though they were able to scratch out 2 runs in the third inning on a walk and an error to temporarily take the lead, San Diego Christian would not get their first hit until the top of the final inning. Emily Lonetree's leadoff single in the inning would release the Hawks from the burden of being no-hit.

GAME TWO
Gizel Mendez pitched admirably for San Diego Christian, but the runs were far an few between for the offense. Lonetree once again provided the Hawks with their sole offensive spark driving in Maya Abrego in the 6th inning

UP NEXT
The Hawks celebrate Senior Night on Saturday, April 23 at the Santee Sportsplex. The doubleheader with the Vanguard University Lions begins at 4pm.
