[Softball] Five Teams Look to Hold Down Playoff Spots

With two weeks remaining in the California Pacific Conference softball regular season, the five available berths in the Cal Pac Championship are not clinched, but they are certainly firmly grasped by the top five teams in the conference standings.  Barring a combination of a collapse and a strong finish by either Park-Gilbert or Saint Katherine, the current leaders are on a path to claim their spots in the postseason tournament.  No. 23 Embry-Riddle is in control at the top of the standings at 21-3, sitting five games in front of La Sierra (15-7) and Simpson (18-10) and six ahead of Marymount California (15-9) and Westcliff (16-10).  Park (10-15) is 5 1/2 games behind MCU and WU, and USK (9-15) are six back.  The Cal Pac Softball Championships begin May 4 in Riverside, Calif.
