Chinese Taipei qualifies for WBSC U-18 Women’s Softball World Cup final for first time, will meet USA

Chinese Taipei (6-0) and USA (6-0) are guaranteed to finish atop the opening round standings of the WBSC U-18 Women's Softball World Cup in the Peruvian capital. The two teams will end their round-robin together Saturday before meeting again in Sunday's World Championship Final.

Chinese Taipei clinched a spot in the World Championship Final after a 1-0 win over Czech Republic.

For Chinese Taipei, this will be their first final in the youth softball world championship category. The Asian team has won two bronze medals, in 1999 and 2011, and is the fourth team in history to reach the final, joining USA, Japan and China.

The US has participated in 12 of the first 13 finals of the junior women’s softball World Championship, winning seven world titles. 

The battle for the third and fourth place includes Puerto Rico, Mexico and Czech Republic. Puerto Rico (4-2) will take on Czech Republic in the last round robin day, while Mexico will play Peru at 7 p.m.

USA defeated host Peru, 13-0, in the WBSC U-18 Softball World Cup on Friday at Villa Maria del Triunfo Complex. USA sits atop the standings with 6-0 record, along with Chinese Taipei. The two teams will end their round-robin together before meeting again in Sunday's World Championship Final.

Mexico 3-0 Netherlands - Photos ans stats

Mexico secured their third win of the WBSC U-18 Women’s Softball World Cup, with a 3-0 victory over the Netherlands, behind a one-hit shutout by southpaw Leanna Garcia. The win keeps Mexico in contention to advance to the Bronze Medal Game.

Chinese Taipei 1-0 Czech Republic - Photos and stats

Chinese Taipei beat the Czech Republic, 1-0, to secure a spot in Sunday's WBSC U-18 Women’s Softball World Cup Final, with the title of world champion in the line. Starter Hsia-Ai Ke tossed a gem to outduel Katerina Kindermmanova.

Hsia-Ai Ke pitched a three-hit complete game shutout, striking out six with no walks. She has a 0.67 ERA for the tournament with three wins and no losses after 21 innings of work.

Colombia vs Mexico - Photos and stats

Mexico defeated Colombia, 7-0 in five innings, in the first game of their Friday doubleheader at the WBSC U-18 Women’s Softball World Cup in Lima, Peru. Yanina Treviño went 2-for-2 with three RBI and two runs scored, while Mariangel Barbosa finished 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
