Chinese Taipei qualifies for WBSC U-18 Women’s Softball World Cup final for first time, will meet USA

<p>Chinese Taipei (6-0) and USA (6-0) are guaranteed to finish atop the opening round standings of the WBSC U-18 Women's Softball World Cup in the Peruvian capital. The two teams will end their round-robin together Saturday before meeting again in Sunday's World Championship Final. </p>

<p>Chinese Taipei clinched a spot in the World Championship Final after a 1-0 win over Czech Republic.</p>

<p>For Chinese Taipei, this will be their first final in the youth softball world championship category. The Asian team has won two bronze medals, in 1999 and 2011, and is the fourth team in history to reach the final, joining USA, Japan and China.</p>

<p>The US has participated in 12 of the first 13 finals of the junior women’s softball World Championship, winning seven world titles. </p>

<p>The battle for the third and fourth place includes Puerto Rico, Mexico and Czech Republic. Puerto Rico (4-2) will take on Czech Republic in the last round robin day, while Mexico will play Peru at 7 p.m. </p>
