Three-time Olympic softball medalist Cat Osterman retires from the game

<p>Three-time Olympic medalist and legendary USA Softball pitcher Cat Osterman announced her retirement from the game. The left-handed pitcher is an Olympic gold medal winner in Athens 2004 and silver medallist in Beijing 2008 and Tokyo2020. Osterman is a two-time WBSC Women’s Softball World Champion (2006 and 2010).</p>

<p>“I’m so blessed for all this game has given me,” said Osterman. “This last chapter was filled with more than I could’ve imagined, and I will always be appreciative for my time in this game. It’s been an honor to wear the Red, White and Blue, and I thank USA Softball for all they have done for the Women’s National Team, the sport and myself.”</p>

<p>Osterman played her final game on last day of Athletes Unlimited Softball second season, that crowned Aleshia Ocasio as champion. Osterman won the title in season one of the new professional softball competition.</p>

<p>The lefty veteran helped USA to three Pan American Games gold medals (2003, 2007, 2019), two World Championship gold medals (2006, 2010) and three Olympic medals (2004, 2008, 2020) throughout her 13-year career with the USA Softball Women’s National Team. </p>

<p>She started the Tokyo 2020 gold medal game for USA in her last international appearance. She pitched two scoreless innings, giving up two hits and a walk. She didn’t allow runs in Tokyo 2020, pitching 14.2 innings while striking out 15 opponents.</p>

<p>“Our tango on the field has ended, but I won’t be too far away,” she stated on a letter dedicated to the game of softball, posted on her Instagram account. “I’ll share all you’ve taught me with anyone and everyone. I’ll help others love you the way I have, and I’ll be cheering loudly as you grow and give my peers continuous challenges and successes.”</p>
