The Daily News’ high school softball top 10 rankings as of May 9.

SOFTBALL TOP 10

1. Westlake (11-1): Warriors are doing it in all facets of the game. Eight homers in a single game. Impressive victory over juggernaut Crescenta Valley. And a game-ending squeeze play to edge Oaks Christian. Pitcher Kylie Chung is leading an impressive charge for the Warriors.

2. Crescenta Valley (10-2): Going down to Orange County and beating Los Alamitos and Huntington Beach within a week is downright impressive. Lily Hinkle’s game-winning 3-run double against Arcadia was exhilarating. And if there’s a chance to see pitcher Dee Dee Hernandez this year, do not miss it.

3. Valencia (9-0): Freshman third baseman Izzy Mertes made a game-saving defensive dazzler late to thwart Saugus’ upset bid. Vikings get penalized with Santa Clarita-only schedule, but have Golden Valley on Monday and Canyon on Thursday.

4. Oaks Christian (13-2): The pandemic has limited Lions’ travel, but Lions have flexed their muscle against the local teams, losing just a pair of heartbreakers to Westlake. Heaven Oliva has cracked 8 homers this season.

5. Saugus (7-2): Aside from Valencia, Saugus is 7-0 against Santa Clarita opponents, outscoring them 88-17 in those games. And the Centurions nearly got Valencia on Thursday. Hart and West Ranch are on tap this week in Santa Clarita Valley-only schedule.

6. Newbury Park (12-5): Panthers have a victory over Westlake to highlight their strong start. Need to be wary with Westlake on Monday, Royal on Wednesday and Agoura on Thursday. Amelia Lech has six homers and 17 RBIs.

7. El Camino Real (9-2): ECR is the heavy L.A. City Section favorite and have recorded quality victories over Southern Section schools like Notre Dame, Louisville, Agoura and Chaminade. Abigail Miller is raking with 18 RBIs.

8. Notre Dame (11-1): Ella Parker has led Notre Dame resurgence both in the circle and at the plate, including an 11-strikeout performance and decisive homer against Louisville last week. The Knights get Harvard-Westlake on Tuesday and Alemany on Thursday in their quest for Mission League supremacy.

9. Sierra Canyon (11-1): Amber Toven and Justine Bergara have been propelling a cohesive Trailblazers squad that is running away with the Gold Coast League title. Sierra Canyon has Viewpoint on Thursday and St. Genevieve on Friday.

10. Louisville (11-3): Royals have proven to be a tough team to beat with Grace Luderer in the pitching circle. Louisville will look to bounce back from a loss to Notre Dame with matchup Thursday against Harvard-Westlake.

Bubble teams: Simi Valley (8-5); Royal (8-3); Heritage Christian (6-4); Kennedy (4-1)
