[Softball] Park Closes Out Season With Two Wins Over SU

Park-Gilbert got two strong pitching performances to sweep a regular season-ending doubleheader from Simpson on Wednesday.  In the first game, a 5-1 win for the Buccaneers, Kylee Saunders threw a complete game and gave up just four hits, one earned run, and a walk while striking out three.  Gabby Vallee followed that up with a complete game 2-0 shutout, fanning five, walking none, and scattering eight hits.  In the four-game series with SU, Saunders and Vallee kept the Red Hawks to two or fewer runs in their three combined starts.  Before this week's series, SU had only been kept to that two or fewer runs eight times in 35 games.  Moreover, Vallee's shutout marked just the third time in 38 games this season that SU has been kept scoreless, and the first time since Feb. 14 against No. 1 Southern Oregon.  The series split with the Red Hawks makes the Buccaneers the only team to defeat the Red Hawks in conference play all season.  Because Park is in its probationary year with the NAIA, the Buccaneers are ineligible for the postseason, so their first season in the Cal Pac closes out at 8-8.
