[Softball] No. 14 SXU splits DH with St. Ambrose on 'Senior Day'

CHICAGO – Senior outfielder Abbie Bailey (Tinley Park, Ill./McKendree/Andrew) drove in four runs and was 2-for-2 at the plate in a 9-0 win in five innings in game one for for No. 14 Saint Xavier University (27-2, 16-2 CCAC) over St. Ambrose University (Wis.) Tuesday afternoon in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) action at the SXU Softball Field in Chicago. Home runs proved costly in game two as the Fighting Bees cracked three home runs en route to a 9-6 win over the Cougars Senior pitcher Allison Golic (Mentor, Ohio/Eastern Illinois/Mentor), who got the win in game one, took the loss in game two and sees her record go to 17-2 in the circle this season.

In between games, 11 seniors were honored. Lexxie Lux, who graduated after last season, came back since the 2020 season was cut short due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. She was joined by Taylor Sterkowitz (Oak Forest, Ill./Roosevelt/Oak Forest), Allie Maguire (Davey, Neb./Waverly), Maddie Meisl (Evergreen Park, Ill./Evergreen Park), Brittany Schultz (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way Central), Tori Williams (Wadsworth, Ill./Zion-Benton Township), Nicole O'Donnell (Mokena, Ill./Lincoln-Way East), Kailey Zych (Monee, Ill./Providence Catholic), Golic, Tori Keilman (Highland, Ind./St. Joseph's/Bishop Noll Institute), Bailey and team manager Sally Yeager.
