[Softball] Softball Falcons Sweep Past Tabor for Fourth Straight Win
WICHITA, Kan. – The Friends University Falcons swept the Tabor College Bluejays in dramatic fashion today (Mar. 27) at Two Rivers Youth Complex to extend their overall winning streak to four games.
The Falcons are now 15-10 overall and 4-2 in the KCAC.
In the 9-8 win in the nightcap, Meghan Low (JR/Collinsville, Okla.) hit a sacrifice fly to finish a three-run seventh inning and give the Falcons the walkoff victory.
After entering the day with one career home run to her name, Hannah Lang (JR/Topeka, Kan. ) launched two homers in the second game alone and drove in a career-high five RBIs.
The Falcons also got three hits each from Aleigha Gale (FR/Winfield, Kan. ) and Kat Davis (JR/Keller, Texas).
Rheanna Smith went 2-4 at the plate for the Bluejays.
Michelle Kroell (SO/Clovis, Calif. ) started the second game for the Falcons and went 4.2 innings, with four earned runs allowed and one strikeout. Hali Walters (SR/Longmont, Colo.) pitched a scoreless seventh inning to pick up her second win of the day and seventh overall on the season.
Walters was also victorious in the opening game with a complete game effort of three runs allowed along with six strikeouts.
Gianna Tijerina (SO/Fort Lupton, Colo. ) put the Falcons on top in the bottom of the second with her first career homer, a two-run blast that scored Carolyn Dallimore (SO/Patterson, Calif. ).
The Falcons then took advantage of three Tabor miscues to bust the game open with four runs in the fourth before a solo homer by Jennifer Garcia (FR/Sylamar, Calif. ) in the fifth made it a seven-run lead.
Tabor got on the board with two in the sixth and then clawed within four runs on an RBI double by Madison Primrose in the seventh, but Walters buckled down and got a strikeout and groundout to close out the victory.
Gale and Tijerina each had two hits for the Falcons, while Alyssa Martinez and Courtney Bossman also had a pair of hits for Tabor (5-21, 1-5 KCAC).
The Falcons will next play at No. 23-ranked Ottawa University on Tuesday afternoon (Mar. 30) at 2 pm in Ottawa, Kan.
