Japan Men’s Softball Super Tournament opens this weekend in Okayama
The Japanese Men’s Softball League will stage a Super Tournament, a single-elimination event, opening Friday, 13 November, with 17 teams battling for the top prize this year. The best softball players from Japan, the current No. 1 in the WBSC Men's Softball World Rankings, will headline the three-day tournament.
The 2020 Japanese Men’s Softball League was cancelled in August due to the pandemic. The Japanese Softball Association announced the Super Tournament will be held the same weekend that the league finals would have been played.
JSA announced that the Japanese Men’s Softball League will be back again next year, with 18 participating teams split into two divisions.
Last year, WBSC Men’s Softball Player of the Year 2019 Hikaru Matsuda led Hirabayashi Metal to the league’s title, after a 7-0 win over Denso in the final match.
