Update about returning to play

Hi Beachcombers,

I hope you’re all staying safe and well. I’m sure you’re all eager to get back out to the park to play ball! Here’s where we’re at in terms of getting back to play some softball.

The British Softball Federation (BSF) submitted a Return to Play guidance document to the Department of Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) on Monday 13 July and are awaiting approval of this.

When (or if) this is approved, we’ll be provided with guidance and protocols which will need to be followed so that we can get back to playing softball safely. I’m not sure when this will happen but as soon I have an update I’ll let you all know. Hopefully we can get out to the park for a few games before the season is over but it’s still up in the air at the moment and things could change at any time.

This is from the BSF Executive Meeting Report from 9 July:

“An announcement will be made on the BSF website and social media as soon as approval is received, and the guidance document will be published, along with a date on which single games of softball with a maximum of 30 people involved can begin.”

I’m still hopeful that we can get together for a few softball sessions before the season is over, but we all need to understand that this may not happen.

I’ll also be looking to arrange a social event some time near the end of the season, along with our postponed AGM so that we can organise the indoor season (if it can go ahead) and the new committee and leadership for next year.
