Comfortable win gives Canada first place in Group B. New Zealand tops Philippines in three

Canada reached its sixth win in a row and secured the number one place in Group B. Today the Red and White team beat Singapore, 8-0, in five innings and remains the only undefeated team in the group. Canada scored in the first four innings of play, including a four-run fourth inning, and homered four times during the game.

Sean Cleary and Patrick Burns combined to no-hit Singapore. The starter pitched four innings allowing only 1 base on balls and striking out 6. Burns worked 1 inning, walked 1 and fanned 3.

Bryan Abrey belted his third home run of the tournament. Derek Mayson, Ryan Bolan and Burns also homered today.

New Zealand tops Philippines in three

New Zealand had an easy win today against Philippines, 15-0, and added its fourth win in the Men’s Softball World Championship. The Black Sox used a nine-inning third run to end the game.

Nathan Nukunuku homered twice for the winners -a 3-run homer in the second and a solo shot in the third- and recorded 4 RBIs in the game. Campbel Enoka also hit a 3-run blast in the third.

Josh Pettett claimed the win, allowing 1 hit in 3 innings, with 6 Ks.
