High school softball rankings
Class AA
1. Shenendehowa (18-2, last week No. 1): The top-seeded Lady Plainsmen have a quarterfinal bye and will meet the winner of Tuesday's contest between Colonie and Shaker in the semifinals.
2. Columbia (14-6, LW No. 2): The second-seeded Blue Devils entertain No. 7 seed Saratoga Tuesday in quarterfinal action.
3. Colonie (11-7, LW No. 3): The Garnet Raiders overcame a 7-4 deficit to defeat Shaker on May 20, and face the Blue Bison again Tuesday in quarterfinal play.
4. Bethlehem (10-6, LW No. 4): The Eagles, seeded No. 3, split two games within a week against quarterfinal opponent Guilderland.
5. Shaker (10-8, LW No. 5): The fifth-seeded Blue Bison get another crack against Colonie, a squad they dropped an 11-7 decision against last week.
Class A
1. South Glens Falls (14-0, LW No. 1): The Bulldogs, behind the three-hit pitching of Hannah Breen, closed their regular season with an 8-2 victory against Amsterdam.
2. Ballston Spa (17-3, LW No. 2): The Scotties, winners of the 2018 Section II Class AA title, begin their pursuit of another sectional championship Tuesday when they host Amsterdam.
3. Averill Park (15-5, LW No. 3): The Warriors begin their quest for a third straight sectional championship Tuesday in the quarterfinals against sixth-seeded Troy.
4. Mohonasen (18-2, LW No. 4): Matti Muller tossed a six-hitter and Michaela Arcate delivered four hits and five RBIs as the Mighty Warriors blanked Watervliet 9-0.
5. Scotia (12-4, LW No. 5): The fifth-seeded Tartans travel Tuesday to take on fourth-seeded Mohonasen in quarterfinal play.
