[Softball] Softball hosts NAIA Softball Opening Round matchups starting Monday

COLUMBIA, Ky. - The No.1 seeded Lindsey Wilson softball team hosts the NAIA Softball Opening Round matchups beginning on Monday, May 13 at 11 a.m. CT through Wednesday, May 15 at Marilyn D. Sparks Park.

Lindsey Wilson is joined by the No. 2-seeded USC-Beauford (S.C.), No. 3-seeded Grand View (Iowa) and No. 4 Saint Xavier (Ill.) in the Lindsey Wilson bracket of the NAIA Opening Round Tournament. The winner of the double-elimination bracket moves on the NAIA Softball World Series, which runs May 23-29 at the Killian Sports Complex in Springfield, Missouri.

The Blue Raiders begin action on Monday, May 13 at 1:30 p.m. CT against Saint Xavier. USC-Beauford and Grand View kick off the tournament at 11 a.m. CT. Tuesday's matchups are scheduled for 11 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. CT. The championship game is set for Wednesday at 11 a.m. CT, with an if-necessary game to follow.

Lindsey Wilson has served as an Opening Round host institution for seven consecutive years. The Blue Raiders have won their Opening Round bracket in 2014 and 2015 with a record of 12-8 in Opening Round Contests.

In total, 40 institutions from across the country compete at 10 host sites with the winners to move on the 39th NAIA Softball World Series, which is a 10-team double elimination tournament.
