[Softball] Softball has four earn All-KCAC honors
Kansas Wesleyan softball had two Second Team All-KCAC honorees and two Honorable Mention All-KCAC honorees as the 2019 All-KCAC softball teams have been announced by the conference office. The teams are selected by a vote of the conference softball coaches.
Tara Stubits (SO/Topeka, Kan.) and Taylor LaGrange (SR/Mont Belvieu, Texas) were named to the second-team, while Taylor Lenggenhager (JR/Austin, Texas) and Kirsten Redfern (FR/Keller, Texas) were named to the honorable mention team.
Stubits served as the primary pitcher for the Coyotes this season. In 23 conference game appearances, she was 8-9 with a 3.11 ERA and a 1.62 WHIP. She threw 132 and two-thirds innings allowing 86 runs (59 earned) with 90 strikeouts against 32 walks. Opposing batters hit .302 against her. She led the KCAC in innings pitched, ranked fourth in strikeouts, eighth in ERA, and No. 12 in opposing batting average.
Stubits also was an excellent hitter for the Coyotes, batting .360 with 32 hits in conference play, which led the team and had six doubles, a triple, a homer and four RBI for a .483 slugging average and a .896 OPS. She ranked eighth in the conference in hits.
LaGrange led the Coyotes in hitting during conference play, batting .460 with 23 hits, which included four doubles, three triples and a homerun, driving in 12 runs. She had a team best .720 slugging average and a team best 1.229 OPS. She ranked third in the conference in triples, fourth in batting average and slugging average, and sixth in on-base percentage.
Lenggenhager hit .321 for the Coyotes during conference play, with 26 hits which included eight doubles a homerun, while driving in 11 runs. She had a .457 slugging average and a .375 on base percentage and a .832 OPS. She ranked sixth in the conference in doubles and No. 25 in hits.
Redfern hit .417 in nine conference games for the Coyotes, missing a portion of the season with an injury. She had ten hits, while included three doubles and a homerun while driving in nine. She had a .667 slugging average and a .517 on base percentage and a 1.184 OPS.
Wesleyan finished the season 19-24 overall and 11-13 in the KCAC. The Coyotes were the No. 7 seed in the KCAC tournament going 1-2 in three games during the post-season run.
