[Softball] Pembrook and Thompson first team all-CCAC; Krieger and McClintock second team
Christina Pembrook and Madelyn Thompson were named first team all-CCAC and Morgan Krieger and Olivia McClintock were named to the second team as the conference announced its postseason softball awards at the conference tournament Saturday.
Pembrook, now a two-time first team all-conference selection, has done it all for the Bees. Entering the CCAC Tournament, she led the team in several offensive and pitching categories.
She has posted a team-leading .381 batting average with 53 hits in 139 at bats. Twenty of those hits have gone for extra bases, including a team-best 15 doubles and four triples. The senior from Naperville, Ill., has collected 15 multi-hit games, including a 4-for-4 performance against Culver-Stockton. Pembrook is second in the CCAC in both doubles (15) and stolen bases (20), and ranks seventh in both hits and runs scored (36) this season.
In the circle, she has gone 15-7 with a 2.75 earned run average. She is second in the conference and 39th nationally in wins and her ERA is the eighth-best mark in the league. She also ranks among the conference leaders in strikeouts (fifth with 84), innings pitched (fourth with 129.2) and opponent batting average (fourth at .238). She has also recorded a pair of saves.
Pembrook is among the St. Ambrose leaders in several career categories. She is sixth all-time with 181 hits, fourth with 39 doubles, fourth with 46 stolen bases and sixth with 33 pitching wins. She has also extended her own record of career saves to 13.
Thompson also earned first team all-CCAC recognition. The junior catcher from Ottawa, Ill., currently leads SAU with six home runs and 35 RBIs. She has hit half of the team's 12 homers this season. Thompson, batting .352 with a team-best .585 slugging percentage, ranks fifth in the conference in home runs, seventh in RBIs and sixth in total bases (83).
Thompson has 13 multi-hit games this season, including a pair of games with three hits. She was 3-for-5 with a season-high four RBIs against Saint Xavier.
With her selection to the second team, Krieger is now a four-time all-conference player. The senior corner infielder from Plainfield, Ill., is batting .349 with eight doubles, four triples and four homers. She has knocked in 34 runs while scoring 31. She is 10th in the CCAC with 51 hits, eighth in RBIs and tied with Pembrook for eighth in total bases with 79.
Krieger's name is also all over the SAU record books. She ranks third all-time with 210 career hits, just one behind former teammate Anna Boffeli for second place. She is also second in career doubles (46), second in career RBIs (142) and fifth in career home runs (22).
McClintock has made an immediate impact as a freshman and was the second Bee named second team all-CCAC. The outfielder from Chatham, Ill., is second on the team with a .360 batting average and has stolen a conference-leading 32 bases in 34 attempts. She is one steal shy of tying the school record for stolen bases in a season. Her 32 steals, which rank her 18th in the country, also lead the team which is ranked sixth in the NAIA with 125 steals.
McClintock's 54 hits place her sixth in the conference.
