High school softball: Bay Area News Group Top 15

0 20

Foothill needs just one more win to take an undefeated record into the North Coast Section softball playoffs next week.

To do so, the Bay Area News Group’s top-ranked team will have to defeat crosstown rival Amador Valley for the second time in a week and the third time this season.

Foothill will play host to the Dons in the East Bay Athletic League championship game Thursday.

Fifth-ranked Amador Valley bounced back from an 8-1 loss to Foothill last week with a 4-1 win over California on Tuesday in the league tournament.

Heritage, which has won 12 in a row, remained No. 2 in the rankings, followed by St. Francis — the West Catholic Athletic League’s regular-season champ — and Presentation.

Santa Teresa slid three spots to No. 6 after losing Tuesday to Silver Creek 6-0.
