[Softball] Bound for Nationals! Softball Falcons Set to Open NAIA Tournament Monday vs. No. 3 OCU
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Friends University Falcons, receiving an automatic bid to the NAIA National Championship Tournament by winning the KCAC postseason tournament, have been placed in the Oklahoma City Bracket in the NAIA Opening Round and will face top-seeded and No. 3-ranked Oklahoma City University Monday (May 13) at 1 pm at Ann Lacy Stadium in Oklahoma City, Okla.
The Oklahoma City Bracket also includes second-seed Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) and third-seed Morningside (Iowa).
The Falcons will enter the NAIA postseason playing their best ball of the season, winners of eight straight that includes sweeping four games in the KCAC tourney.
Overall, the Falcons have won 18 of their last 21 games for a 28-17 record.
Hali Walters (SO/Longmont, Colo.) has given the Falcons an anchor in the circle, winning a KCAC-high 19 games to go along with a 2.41 ERA and an outstanding 167-59 K/BB ratio.
Kylie Fox (SR/Wichita, Kan. ) is one of three Falcons to hit above the .400 mark for the season, batting a team-high .431 on the season.
Shelby Belloni (SR/Denver, Colo. ) (.420) and Kat Davis (FR/Keller, Texas) (.415) are also hitting over .400, while Mackenzie Nichols (SR/Columbus, Ohio) has slugged a team-high seven home runs.
Isabella Gonzalez (SR/Bakersfield, Calif.) has been the table-setter for the Falcons this season, hitting .354 and stealing a team-leading 23 bases.
