[Softball] Rio earns spot in RSC Softball title game

    VIENNA, W.Va. - Heading into the final day of the 2019 River States Conference Softball Tournament, the University of Rio Grande finds itself in a familiar spot - playing for a championship.
    The top-seeded RedStorm rolled through Midway University and pummeled Indiana University Southeast on Friday afternoon at Jackson Memorial Park to secure a berth in Saturday's title tilt.
    Head coach Chris Hammond's squad dropped the fourth-seeded Eagles, 12-5, before posting a 13-0 mercy rule-shortened rout of the No. 2 seed Grenadiers.
    Rio Grande, which improved to 34-12 with the two wins, will face an opponent still to be determined in the championship first final of the double-elimination tourney on Saturday at 1 p.m. A second final, if needed, would follow immediately thereafter.
