(UPDATED BRACKET) GREAT BEND, Kan. – The Kansas Wesleyan softball team kept its season alive as the Coyotes used a late-inning surge to get past the Bethany Swedes 4-2 on Friday at the Great Bend Sports Complex.

With the win, the Coyotes will now face Ottawa on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in another elimination contest.

The Coyotes took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning as Taylor Lenggenhager (JR/Austin, Texas) and Kirsten Redfern (FR/Keller, Texas) both singled to start the inning. A sacrifice by Taylor LaGrange (SR/Mont Belvieu, Texas) advanced the runners and set up Dalayna DeMarte (JR/Rocklin, Calif.)'s sacrifice fly to give the Coyotes a 1-0 lead.

Alyssa Garza (JR/San Antonio, Texas) led off the Wesleyan third with a hit and later in the inning Anna Grace Williams (FR/Crandall, Texas) singled to score Tara Stubits (SO/Topeka, Kan.) and put the Coyotes up 2-0.

Bethany got on the board in the bottom of the fifth inning on a 2-run homer, but in the seventh, the Coyotes would retake the lead.

Samantha Banda (SO/Houston, Texas) led off the seventh reaching on an error and two batters later Stubits singled. Another Bethany error allowed Jessica Vegely (JR/Mariposa, Calif.) to reach and loaded the bases, setting up Williams' 2-run go-ahead single that put the Coyotes up 4-2.

Stubits allowed just two runs on seven hits to the Swedes for the win in the circle.

Williams had two hits and drove in three of KWU's four runs. Lenggenhager had two hits as well.
