High school softball: Bay Area News Group Top 15

There is still no doubt which softball team is the best in the Bay Area News Group Top 15.

Foothill entered the prestigious Livermore Stampede ranked No. 1 and did nothing to affect its standing, winning five games to win the tournament.

But there was quite a shake up beneath Foothill.

Heritage (13-2) made the biggest leap, going from No. 10 to No. 2 after outscoring Granada, Northgate, East Nicolaus, Antioch and Freedom by a combined 41-1 in a perfect week.

Last week’s second-ranked team, Archbishop Mitty, dropped three spots after going 3-2 at the Stampede.

Last week’s third-ranked team, St. Francis, also slid three places after a 2-2-1 showing in Livermore.

Newcomers this week were Antioch and Santa Teresa.

On to the rankings …
