[IWU] Wildcats in the NAIA Polls
MARION, Ind. – Indiana Wesleyan University boasts seven teams in current NAIA polls. Men’s basketball, women’s swimming, softball, and women’s tennis are all ranked in the top-10 with men’s basketball returning to the No. 1 spot.
MEN’S BASKETBALL – No. 1
Indiana Wesleyan is back atop the NAIA Division II poll released on Tuesday. The Wildcats ride a nine game win streak into Saturday’s game at No. 14 Bethel (Ind.) in Mishawaka. Indiana Wesleyan is fresh off wins over No. 13 Marian (Ind.) and No. 6 Mount Vernon Nazarene (Ohio).

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL – No. 19
The Wildcats are down three spots to No. 19 in the new poll released on Tuesday. IWU is 15-8 overall and 8-3 in the Crossroads League, tied for third place in the league standings but just a single game behind front runners Marian and Taylor (Ind.).

WOMEN’S SWIMMING – No. 5
Indiana Wesleyan falls one spot from No. 4 to No. 5 in the Top-25 Poll released last Friday. IWU wrapped up the regular season last weekend and competes in the program’s first conference championship on January 31-February 2 at the Mid-South Conference Championship in Kingsport, Tennessee.

BASEBALL – Receiving votes
The Wildcats received votes in the Preseason Coaches’ Poll that was released on November 6. The first regular season poll will be distributed March 5. The Wildcats open the 2019 season on February 8-9 with a four game set vs. St. Xavier (Ill.).

SOFTBALL – No. 7
Indiana Wesleyan enters the 2019 season in the top-10 with a No. 7 ranking in the Preseason Coaches’ Poll. IWU completed the 2018 season with a 58-12 mark and reached the program’s second consecutive NAIA World Series. Indiana Wesleyan begins the new season on February 8 at Midway (Ky.) in Midway, Kentucky.

MEN’S TENNIS – Receiving votes
The Wildcats received votes and are just outside the top-25 in the NAIA Coaches’ Preseason Top-25 Poll. IWU is 26th overall in the ranking following a 15-1 mark in the fall season. IWU won the Crossroads League regular season title but fell 5-3 in the league tournament championship match. The spring season opens on February 14 at Grand Valley State (Mich.).

WOMEN’S TENNIS – No. 10
Indiana Wesleyan is ranked No. 10 in the Top-25 Coaches’ Preseason Poll released earlier this week. IWU is 16-0 following another perfect fall season and has already clinched a NAIA National Championship bid with a win in the Crossroads League Tournament Championship. The spring season opens on February 14 at Grand Valley State (Mich.).
