[Softball] 2019 AAC Softball Pre-Season Poll

DAYTON, Tenn. – The 2019 AAC preseason poll predicts Bryan College Lions to finish the regular seasons in 9th place. The coaches poll votes Truett McConnell is favored to finish in 1st with 142 points followed by Brenau with 128 and Reinhardt with 125 points. In the 2018 regular-season Truett McConnell dominated the conference along with earning the conference regular season championship as well as the tournament championship title. Tennessee Wesleyan voted 4th with 106 followed by Point and Union rounding out the number 5th spot with 104 points.

 

The Bryan College Lady Lions are ready to begin regular season play with senior returner Hannah O'Shields (SR/LaFayette, Ga.). In the 2017 All-Conference vote, O'Shields received All-AAC 2nd Team Award placing the team at 9th during the regular season. O'Shields had her teams highest batting average (0.365), slugging % (0.635), hits (46), homeruns (6), RBI's (37) and followed Sydney Olander (SR/Madison, Miss.) with runs scored (20). Olander contributed with a 0.333 batting average, slugging % 0.370, hitting 46, 10 RBIs, topping 31 runs scored. Heidi Smith (JR/Cookeville, Tenn.) also had a good batting average (0.291), slugging (0.358), hits (39), homerun (1), RBI (18), runs score (28).  Coach Ritchhart returns for his second season with fifteen of his 2018 players.

 

The Lion's first regular season game will be played in Lawrenceville, Georgia against the Georgia Gwinnett Grizzlies in a double header on February 6th, 2019. March 6th the Lions will be home, hosting Milligan College for their first conference game at 12:00pm.
