Tennis legend Billie Jean King joins Dodgers ownership group

The tennis great and her life partner, Ilana Kloss, are new minority owners of the Los Angeles Dodgers. King, 74, a native of Long Beach, came from a family of baseball fans — her brother is former Giants pitcher Randy Moffitt — and has been a lifelong Dodgers fan. “I’m pinching myself already,” King told the Los Angeles Times. “Joining the Dodgers is my life coming full circle.” Long before she won 39 Grand Slam titles, King was a shortstop for several youth softball teams in the Long Beach area. At age 10, she played on a team that won a 15-and-under championship. “I would love to pick up that ball and just fling it to first, that was so fun,” she said. “I had a good arm, and I was quick off the dime.
