[Softball] Lipe Named Second Team All-Conference; Chamberlain Named to Champions of Character Team

COLUMBIA, MO- The American Midwest Conference released the 2018 All-Conference Teams for Softball and among those listed, Ariel Lipe (SR/Ellington, Missouri) was named Second Team All-Conference.

Lipe, a senior from Ellington, MO, was a crucial part of the Hornets line-up this season. She hit in the two-hole and finished the season 3rd on the team with a .289 batting average and crossed the plate 18 times, the most on the team.

Just one of four players to play in all 30 games this season, Lipe was a key utility player for HSSU. Before playing shortstop for the last part of the season, Lipe spent her time in the outfield where she played for the first 17 games. Lipe also made an appearance in the pitcher's circle this season where she pitched 0.2 innings giving up no earned runs and only two hits.

Lipe finished her career with a .286 batting average, a .391 slugging percentage, and a .367 on-base percentage. She had 38 hits in her two years with the Hornets and a team high six triples.

Six Hornet softball players were also named to the AMC All-Academic Team; Adrianna Nelson, Lipe, Britany Wildermuth, Courtney Norris, Emily Lavine, and Kyra Greer all made the team with at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA.

Sophia Chamberlain was the final HSSU player to be recognized by the AMC as she was named to the AMC Softball Champions of Character Team.
