[Softball] SU Clinches as Five Teams Battle for Three Playoff Spots
With about two weeks remaining in California Pacific Conference softball action, the postseason picture is beginning to gain some clarity. Simpson was already clinched a playoff berth after rolling off three more conference wins to extend its season-best nine-game win streak, but La Sierra and Antelope Valley both stayed in position to earn two of the remaining three slots. The Golden Eagles lost to SU in Sunday's rain-shortened doubleheader, but they still hold a half game lead over third-place UAV, which took three out of four from Marymount California to strengthen its position. With only one game separating the three teams vying for the fourth playoff spot, the final two weeks will be interesting. The Pioneers are three games in front of Benedictine-Mesa and four ahead of the Mariners, who are tied with Embry-Riddle at 8.5 games back, but MCU has completed its Cal Pac schedule while ERAU at UAV.
