[Softball] Vanguard Kicks Off Home Stand with a Sweep
COSTA MESA, Calif. — Vanguard University kicked off a six-game home stand with a Golden State Athletic Conference doubleheader victory against Menlo College, improving the Lions to 43-6 overall and 9-4 in conference. The Blue and Gold came out strong and maintained their dominance throughout the day with the GSAC sweep. Samantha Shaffer said the team came out determined to get the doubleheader victor and worked hard to achieve their goal. "We came out strong and came out Webern stronger in the second game. We did a good job of not letting up and giving in hen things didn't go our way," Shaffer said. "We did a good job of getting it done today." The Blue and Gold has four remaining home games before hitting the road for the end of the regular season and the conference tournament. Shaffer said each win only builds up the team's momentum from here on. "Menlo is a good team, and we came out with the win. We want to keep up our momentum everyday, score some runs and play behind our pitchers."
