New Zealand: this is a historic clip from 2002, and things are getting really serious this time when Sensei Karl Varley (Kyokushin Kaikan) breaks the world record, which was set at 23 at this point of time by the German Sensei Markus Bock) for destroyed baseball bats in one minute. The bats used are actually competition grade softball bats that are even 40% fatter than traditional baseball bats, so that's not a bogus record you see here!

Sensei Karl sure was not able to walk for a while after this. For the true Kuokushin fighter it is normal to be black and blue and in great pain a lot from training and hardening exercises, this is a full contact martial art in training and in competition.
