[Softball] Reinhardt Cruises past Lady Knights

GAME 1: REINHARDT 14, SAU 0 (5 INNINGS)

Waleska, Ga.- Reinhardt University (Ga.) got off to a big lead in game one scoring 7 runs in the first two innings to lead 7-0 after two off starter, S.K. Brown (SO/Huntersville, NC). Brown lasted 1 and 1/3 innings allowing 4 hits and 7 runs on 2 walks and a strikeout.

Reinhardt then added 7 more runs in the 4th to put the game out of reach scoring them off sau reliever Nancy Amos (JR/Huntersville, NC). Amos relieved Brown in the 2nd and allowed 5 hits and 7 runs (4 earned) on 2 walks and a strikeout.

SAU tallied 3 hits in the game led by Cassie Fortner (FR/Lexington, NC) reaching base twice as she had a single and a walk while Lucy Trujillo (FR/Nyssa, OR) and sophomore 3B Lily Pinto (SO/Boca Raton, FL) also singled.

GAME 2: REINHARDT 8, SAU 0

RU then controlled game two as well from start to finish scoring 4 runs in the first two innings off Amos and four more off Brown over the final 3 frames.

Brown finished allowing 7 hits and 4 runs over 2 and 2/3 innings with 2 strikeouts. SAU, unfortunately, only managed two hits in the game by LF Reina Mondragon (JR/Williamston, NC) and DH L. Trujillo. Mondragon also stole a base.

SAU falls to 14-24 on the season and 2-14 in the AAC while Reinhardt improves to 22-20 overall and 12-6 in the conference.

SAU will continue to remain on the road to play at Bluefield College (Va.) on Wednesday at 2:00 PM in a DH.
