[Softball] Trevecca Softball | Trojans Sweep Lake Erie; Host Ursuline Saturday

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Trevecca Nazarene University softball team (18-6-1, 5-1) Great Midwest) took a pair of games from conference rival Lake Erie College (5-11, 0-4) Great Midwest). The first, 4-1, and the second, 9-6 in comeback fashion.

The Trojans suffered one loss in their last 11 outings and are 17-3-1 over their last 21 games.

GAME ONE

In the bottom of the first Megan Groves (FR/White House, TN) drove in Bailey Alexander (JR/Glasgow, KY) on a ground ball to give Trevecca a 1-0 lead … the Trojans scored three in the second two on ground balls by Kat Burbrink (SR/Hamilton, OH) and Danielle Horton (SR/Columbia, TN) and a single by Ali Birchfield (SO/Trenton, GA) to give the Trojans a 4-0 lead … Lake Erie scored one in the fourth for the final score of the game in a 4-1 Trojan victory

GAME TWO

Bailey Alexander hit a sacrifice fly to center to score MaKray Odom (SO/McEwen, TN) for a 1-0 lead … Kat Burbrink singled to right scoring Tana Whited (SO/Lebanon, TN) and Kelsey Seitz (FR/Milford, OH) singled scoring Burbrink for a 3-0 Trevecca lead after 2 innings of play … LEC scored four runs in the third to give them a 4-3 lead … Caitlyn Hudgins (JR/Springfield, TN) answered back for TNU in the third on a single to left scoring Alexander and Burbrink singled scoring Mary Collins (JR/Collierville, TN) to take back the lead 5-4 … the Storm took back the league in the fourth scoring two runs to give them a 6-5 lead … the Trojans would score three runs in the fifth on a wild pitch and an error to give them an 8-6 lead … the Trojans scored one more run in the sixth on a Whited ground ball to score Dallas Richards (JR/Columbia, TN) to give the Trojans a 9-6 victory

GAME ONE

MaKray Odom went 2-3 with two runs scored … Savannah Carr (JR/Springfield, TN) (7-1) went five innings for the win … Carr gave up five hits and one run while collecting a strikeout … Morgan Powell (JR/Mt. Juliet, TN) earned her second save of the season going two innings and striking out four batters.

GAME TWO

MaKray Odom and Caitlyn Hudgins went 3-4 in the game … Odom scored a run and drove in a run … Hudgins drove in one run … Tana Whited and Kat Burbrink went 2-4 each scoring twice and driving in a run each … Morgan Powell pitched two and two thirds innings striking out five Storm batters … Savannah Carr (8-1) pitched three innings of relief allowing two hits and striking out one batter in getting her second win of the day.
