[Softball] Vanguard Comes Out Victorious in Top-Ranked Contest

COSTA MESA, Calif. — A top-ranked battle between No. 5 Vanguard and No. 8-ranked Columbia College tested the Lions before entering back into conference play. A combination of high intensity and a steady defense claimed the day for the Lions, who put another sweep under their belts and another shutout victory. Morgan Pilbin said she was proud of the team for coming together and securing two big wins on the day. "In both games, we came out strong with our defense and our pitchers really kept us in it." Pilbin also commended the team's work on defense. "We really produced when we were hitting it right to people. Our defense really came out strong." Pilbin said the team looks to bring the same intensity and energy into tomorrow's conference series against Hope International University. "We know Hope is a big competitor and they're going to come out with everything they have. We're going to really focus in on our intensity and togetherness. We're excited."
