[Softball] Vest Digs the Long Ball, Hits Three Homers in Falcons' DH Split at Langston

Langston, Okla. – Breanna Vest (JR/Fayettevile, Ark. ) powered the Friends University Falcons to a big 12-0 victory over the Langston University Lady Lions in the first game today (Mar. 6) in Langston, Okla. The Falcons were then tripped up 4-1 in the second game.

Vest was the engine to the Falcons' offense in the opening game win, hitting three home runs and driving home six runs in a perfect 4-of-4 effort at the plate.

After singling and scoring the Falcons' first run on a single by Kaelyn Smith (SR/Tuscon, Ariz.), Vest homered twice to fuel a 10-run second inning explosion.

Vest's first homer was a two-run blast that made it 3-0.  She then capped the big frame with a three-run shot over the right field fence.

Shelby Belloni (JR/Lakewood, Colo. ) and Kennedy Brunson (SR/Garden City, Kan.) also had RBI singles in the decisive inning.

Vest finished off her offensive onslaught with a leadoff solo homer in the fifth inning.

Maci Walker (SR/Mansfield, Texas) made all the offense stand with a solid outing in the circle, blanking the Lady Lions on five hits over five innings.

Smith had three hits for the Falcons with two RBIs, with Emily Escobar (SR/Bakersfield, Calif.) also driving in a pair of runs.

Friends (6-8) got two hits each from Isabella Gonzalez (JR/Bakersfield, Calif.) and Kylie Fox (JR/Wichita, Kan. ).

The Falcons will next compete in the McPherson Tournament this weekend (Mar. 9-10) in McPherson, Kan.
