GAME 1: SAU 5, Mount Olive 2

SAU broke open a scoreless game by scoring 4 runs in the 5th inning. SAU kept the shutout intact until the 7th when they added one more insurance run, but gave up two to the Trojans. However, it was not enough as the Knights held on for the impressive game one win.

Junior starter Nancy Amos (JR/Huntersville, NC) (4-1, 1.54 ERA) then closed out the win by finishing the complete game allowing 9 hits and 2 runs (1 earned) with no walks and one strikeout to get the win, but fall just short of a shutout.

SAU also stole five bases in the win by five different players. Leading the Knights offensively was sophomore Asucena Trujillo (SO/Nyssa, OR) as she went 2 for 2 with 2 RBIs while sophomore 3B Brennan Broadaway (SO/Oakboro, NC) also recorded two hits including a double. Freshman CF Cassie Fortner (FR/Lexington, NC) was then the final Knight to record a multi-hit game while she also scored a run and stole a base.

Also recording hits in the game were DH Amanda Shaffer (JR/Sandyston, NJ) and infielders Nikki Santiago (JR/Gainesville, FL) and Ashlyn Dial (SO/Laurinburg, NC) while junior catcher Symphony Arguedas (JR/Riverside, CA) also drove in two runs with a hit while junior outfielder Reina Mondragon (JR/Williamston, NC) recorded an RBI single.

GAME 2: Mount Olive 6, SAU 0

The Lady Knights were stymied by MOC's starting pitcher in game two as they were held to just one hit and 4 walks over 7 innings as they fell 6-0. MOC scored two runs in the first and then four in the 4th off SAU sophomore starter S.K. Brown (SO/Huntersville, NC). Brown (3-4) ended up throwing all six innings allowing 12 hits and 6 runs (4 earned) on a walk and 3 strikeouts.

Santiago earned a single and stolen base.

SAU is now 8-6 on the season while MOC goes to 5-7.
