[Softball] Softball Trip Down to Texas Includes First Program Win in Lone-Star State
FORT WORTH, Texas - The Bethel softball program kicked off their 2018 season this past weekend at the NAIA Cowtown Classic, located in Fort Worth, Texas. The Threshers are always seemingly paired up with stiff competition in the four-game tournament, and this year was no different. After opening Friday with a tough 9-0 loss to home-squad Texas Wesleyan, the Threshers hunkered down a bit more on defense in their 4-0 loss to 24th ranked Houston-Victoria. The bats came alive in their third game, as they socked 14 runs in their victory over William Woods, 14-9. Bethel was able to take that momentum into Saturday and played a competitive match against 15th ranked Morningside, who they ultimately fell to 8-3. Katie Schrag (SR/Haven, Kan.) led the Threshers with a .400 batting average during the tourney, while the squad as a whole swiped seven of nine stolen base attempts.
