[Softball] Softball Drops DH to Limestone
LAURINBURG, N.C. - The St. Andrews University Softball team dropped both ends of their non-conference DH at home on Saturday vs. Div. II foe Limestone College (S.C).
Limestone took game one 8-0 and game two 4-0.
Game 1: LC 8, SAU 0
Limestone's two starters were able to hold the Knights to just two hits in game one and just 6 base runners as they shut down the SAU offense. LC scored 4 runs over the first 4 innings before adding 4 insurance runs in the 7th.
Lady Knights' sophomore starting pitcher, S.K. Brown (SO/Huntersville, NC) (0-2), threw 3 innings allowing 4 hits and 2 runs with 2 walks and 0 strikeouts while junior reliever Nancy Amos came in to throw the final 4 innings allowing six hits and six unearned runs as LC took advantage of some SAU errors.
Broadaway also led the Knights offense with two hits and a stolen base while junior 1B Lexi Dawson (JR/Garland, NC) drew two walks as well. Junior infielder Nikki Santiago (JR/Gainesville, FL) also stole a base.
Game 2: LC 4, SAU 0
Limestone scored three runs in the third inning on a triple before adding another in the 7th inning for the 4 run win.
Santiago and Ashlyn Dial (SO/Laurinburg, NC) each led the Knights with singles as SAU struggled to get any offense going against LC's starter who tossed six shutout two-hit innings. Santiago and freshman CF Cassie Fortner (FR/Lexington, NC) also stole one base each.
Brown (0-3) also started game two and tossed six innings allowing 8 hits and 4 earned runs on 3 walks and 4 Ks while junior reliever Nancy Amos (JR/Huntersville, NC) threw a scoreless 7th inning with a strikeout.
SAU is now 0-4 on the season while Limestone is 2-0.
SAU will now go on the road to face Div. III foe Methodist University (NC) on Tuesday at 1:00 PM.
