No. 2 Foothill softball squeezes past top-ranked Amador Valley
When Foothill softball coach Matt Sweeney asked senior Lauren Hermès to squeeze in a run earlier this season, it didn’t work out as planned.
“I missed the sign and it led to an out,” Hermès said.
“Yeah,” said Sweeney, “but she hit a home run a couple of pitches later, so she made up for it.”
On Thursday, Hermès got the bunt down in the bottom of the sixth inning, leading the Falcons to a 1-0 East Bay Athletic League win over Amador Valley in a battle of Pleasanton rivals and The Chronicle’s two top-ranked squads.
