Utah's "Hidden Gem" Ski Resort Ends Season Early With Less-Than 33% of Average Snowfall
Eagle Point Resort, located in Southern Utah, is one of the Beehive State's "hidden gem" ski resorts.
Off the beaten path from the Wasatch, Eagle Point is known for smaller crowds, cheaper lift tickets, and a laid-back atmosphere. With a base elevation of 9,100’, the snow is typically cold and dry, but this season has been anything but typical.
Eagle Point's final day of the winter 25/26 season was this past Sunday, March 15, 2026. "Due to deteriorating conditions, we have made the decision to close Eagle Point for the season," wrote the resort in a social media post.
The resort intended to remain open through Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026.
Eagle Point's advertised annual snowfall is "350+ inches". According to the resort's conditions report, just 113 inches of snow have fallen this season. If you're keeping score at home, that's less than 33% of average. Oof.

Nearly every Western ski resort is reporting below-average snowfall totals this season, but it seems Mother Nature had it out for resorts in California, Oregon, Utah, and parts of Idaho.
Nordic Valley, located north of Salt Lake City, Utah, has been forced to close multiple times this season due to rain and warm weather. Mt. Shasta and Dodge Ridge in California are both closed for the season.
Multiple ski resorts in Oregon, including Mt. Ashland, which only opened for 17 days this winter, have closed for the year. Small ski areas like Soldier and Pebble Creek in Idaho have fared similarly.

With little to no snowfall in sight, don't be surprised if more ski resorts announce early closing dates in the coming weeks. Keep praying for snow, but this season might be over sooner rather than later out West.
Tune back in here at POWDER for closing date announcements for each Western state later this week.
