Iconic Ski Movie Studio Warren Miller Entertainment Names New On-Screen Host

0 1

A new host will lead the storied ski film outfit Warren Miller Entertainment into the future, and it’s a name you’ll probably recognize.

“This year, we’re expanding,” Warren Miller Entertainment wrote in a social media post. “Introducing Katie Burrell as our new on-camera host—bringing back a tradition that channels the classic narrator energy into the films we’ve built together since 1949.”

The company continued, writing that fans should “get ready for the action” and “expect to laugh.”

Laugh, indeed.

Skiers, mountain bikers, and other outdoor folks will be familiar with Burrell in part because of her razor-sharp satire videos. In them, she plays caricatures we’ve all encountered in the mountains, like “that friend who’s just better than you” or “every skier in Japan.”

Burrell’s skits go beyond the outdoor industry, though. She’s parodied sports players signing “100k mayo deals” and L.A. directors that “think they’re chill,” too.

And, recently, she directed, wrote, and starred in Weak Layers, a modern take on the classic ski comedy genre. The movie follows three women living in a ski town who go on a quest to win a 72-hour short ski film competition.

Given Burrell’s ties to skiing, there were several cameos from big names in the sport, like the filmmaker Scott Gaffney and the professional skier Elyse Saugstad.

In short, Burrell’s one of the funniest people in skiing right now. Or, as an Outside profile from 2023 put it, she’s the “Queen of Slopeside Fun.”

With Warren Miller Entertainment, she follows in a long line of famed hosts. Jonny Moseley, the star bump skier, narrated the movies, as did Miller himself.

Miller launched Warren Miller Entertainment in 1949, becoming a trailblazing ski movie director who helped shape how the genre looks and feels. He passed away in 2018.

The production company he founded is now owned by Outside Inc. and continues to release yearly movies. The latest is Sno-Ciety. The next arrives in fall 2026.
