Team USA Skier Mac Forehand Barely Misses Olympic Gold in Big Air

0 4

The Men's Ski Big Air Finals for the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics went down today, February 17, 2026, and an American skier left with a medal dangling around his neck.

Mac Forehand, 24, from Connecticut, was one of the favorites to win Gold heading into today's finals, but was barely beaten by Norwegian skier Tormod Frostad.

Frostad won Gold with a squeaky-clean right-nose butter double bio 1620 on his last run, which elevated his combined score to 195.50. Forehand finished with a score of 193.25, just barely behind the lead.

Austrian skier Matej Svancer rounded out the podium with a score of 191.25.

All three skiers are sponsored by Faction Skis, marking an impressive podium sweep for the brand.

A full replay of the competition can be watched on NBC and Peacock tonight, February 17, 2026. Forehand's Silver is Team USA's second non-moguls freestyle skiing medal of the Games. Alex Hall secured Silver in Men's Slopestyle last week.

Forehand's Silver brings Team USA's current medal count to five Gold, eight Silver, and one Bronze.

To round out the Games, all eyes will be on American skiers Hunter Hess, Nick Goepper, Alex Ferreira, Svea Irving, Riley Jacobs, Abby Winterberger, and Kate Gray as they compete for Olympic glory in the halfpipe.
