Skiers Have a New Place to Gather—POWDER Magazine Launches Comments and Polls on Website
If there's one thing the staff at POWDER knows about skiers, it's that they love to share their opinions, for better or worse.
The passion we carry for this silly sport spills over into our everyday thoughts, conversations, and arguments. It's inevitable.
A co-worker brings up the score of the most recent primetime NFL Game—we somehow think about skiing. Your mom asks if you're coming home for the Holidays this year—Will that hamper my ski time?, you ask yourself without shame.
Talking about skiing, or in this case writing comments on the internet about skiing, is synonymous with the sport itself. It's why publications like POWDER, The Skier's Journal, and others still exist despite society's best efforts to yuck our yum.
Social media apps like Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok have had comments sections since their inception; however, ski-focused discussions often devolve into political discourse, name-calling, and other forms of vitriol.
That's why I'm stoked to formally announce that the Comments Section has been activated right here at POWDER! Keep reading for more information.
The 2026 POWDER Photo Annual is here! Look for a print copy on a newsstand near you, or click here to have a copy shipped directly to your front door.
We've had the feature running in the background for a few weeks for testing, but as of today, November 6, 2025, POWDER is fully embracing this new opportunity for skiers to engage, comment, and discuss ski topics without the distractions of modern social media.
So, how does it work? Each article on powder.com will now have a blue button at the top that says 'Start The Conversation' if nobody has commented yet, or 'Join The Conversation' if somebody beat you to the punch.
Along with Comments added to each article, POWDER has activated Polls across the site. We plan to randomly drop fun polls, such as "Should Armada Make Snowboards?" into news articles, and curate poll-specific articles to hear from you more often.
Each poll has its own Comments/Discussion section as well. Check out the long list of polls included in POWDER Gear Editor Max Ritter's 'We Want To Learn About Your Ski Boot Preferences' article to see how it works.

Between Comments and Polls, the POWDER team is hoping you'll find more reasons to spend time on our site and away from the algorithm-fed doomscrolling of apps like Instagram and TikTok.
Want to just talk and think about skiing? Head right to powder.com. Tired of every conversation turning political? Go straight to powder.com. Want to hear what other skiers are saying about the latest gear, controversial story, or new movie drop? Powder.com.
Check it out and share your feedback. I'd love to hear from you: matt.lorelli@powder.com.
Powder to the People.
