In Whistler, Range Rover House Offers An Elevated Après Ski Encore

How do you improve upon perfection? It’s a question Range Rover has faced countless times since its first luxury SUV debuted in 1970, carefully balancing constant innovation with the rich legacy it’s built over half a century. This year, the British heritage brand faced the challenge yet again, not in its U.K. manufacturing plants, but rather on the snowy Coast Mountains for this year’s iteration of Range Rover House.

Offering its guests an exclusive retreat for a week of immersive luxury experiences, Range Rover House — much like its vehicles — was designed for guests seeking craftsmanship and artistry in its highest form. In that vein, this elevated interpretation of après-ski delivered a wide range of cultural experiences, wellness treatments, and unparalleled hospitality. But the most notable highlights for guests were the introductions of the Range Rover Sport SV Gaea Curation and the brand’s new Range Rover London Collection, a capsule of stunning luxury-lifestyle pieces.

Guests were the first in Canada to see a preview of the Gaea, followed by on- and off-road driving experiences through Whistler’s formidable winter conditions. One of five exclusively crafted Range Rover Sport SV curations that make up the Celestial Collection, the Gaea is the first of its kind from the firm’s in-house design team at SV Bespoke.

“The cosmos is a transcendent theme that crosses boundaries, fascinating and uniting people globally,” explains Phoebe Lindsay, the materiality manager for Range Rover. “It’s a theme that feels appropriate for the first collection for the Range Rover Sport SV — embodying modern luxury design, while pushing the boundaries of the British originality Range Rover is famed for.”

Toeing a similar line as the Gaea between adventure and refinement, Range Rover’s new lifestyle collection is a bold entry into the luxury fashion space, delivering an array of lightweight jackets, blankets, scarves, and reductionist sculptures of a Range Rover that reflect the brand’s heritage.

Also at Range Rover House Whistler, BVLGARI showcased its latest curation of timepieces and jewellery alongside a master class from the International Gemological Institute, which walked attendees through the nuances of precious stones while Glenfiddich led a structured tasting of their three most exclusive expressions.

But Range Rover’s commitment to recognizing heritage stretched far wider than its own. Throughout the week, guests were informed and entertained by two important Whistler cultural organizations, the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre (SLCC) and the Audain Art Museum. SLCC artisans were on-site throughout the week to showcase traditional regalia fabrication, while the Audain Art Museum offered attendees insight into nearly 200 works from B.C.-based artists as well as a special exhibit of pieces on display.

Expanding the range of customization available, Range Rover had paint, fabric, leather, and trims on display — and access to Range Rover’s online configurator, where guests of the house designed their dream Range Rover. In a master class with one of the brand’s designers, attendees experienced a behind-the-scenes look at modern vehicle design, creating personalized sketches of a prospective dream vehicle in real time. One of Gaea’s new owners will also receive custom Meridian speakers colour-matched to the vehicle along with two fully customized snowboards or sets of skis by Prior. Following the test drives, Stoli Vodka brought guests to a cozy outdoor cocktail bar surrounded by firepits, fur throws, and a snowy Whistler backdrop.

Inside Range Rover House’s Wellness Wing, Hyperice — guided by fitness experts — offered guests techniques to build their best-suited recovery plans after hours spent skiing down Whistler’s world-class slopes. Afterwards, guests sipped brews from Tealeaves before making their way to the Hendrick’s cocktail master class, where they had a one-on-one with a master mixologist to learn the craft behind perfectly balanced cocktails.

In response to the question, “How do you improve upon perfection?” Range Rover returned to Whistler to deliver an answer grounded in the refinement and elevated hospitality worthy of its reputation.
