Former plasterer Eddie “The Eagle” Edwards soared to fame during the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, Canada, when he gamely represented Great Britain in the ski jumping. Under-funded and under-prepared, he was the classic British underdog that the whole nation rooted for.
